CSC launches search for outstanding public servants

MANILA, Philippines - The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced on Friday the beginning of its search for the 2014 outstanding public servants who are worthy of the title “Lingkod Bayani.”

The awards to be given are the highest and most coveted recognition given by the government to individuals or group of individuals who excelled or showed utmost dedication and commitment to public service.

The CSC said all officials in the career and non-career service of the government, including appointive barangay officials and employees, may be nominated while employees who are under job order or contract of service are excluded from the search.

The 2014 Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees forms part of CSC’s Honor Awards Program (HAP), and has three award categories.

The Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award is conferred on an individual or group for exceptional or extraordinary contributions that had nationwide impact.

The Dangal ng Bayan Award is conferred on an individual for performance of extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of his or her adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees or Republic Act No. 6713.

The Pagasa Award is given to an individual or group of individuals for outstanding contributions that directly benefit more than one department of the government.

To promote and strengthen teamwork, the CSC – headed by chairman Francisco Duque III – said it strongly encourages group or team nominations.

Any individual or organization with extensive knowledge of the outstanding work performance or exemplary ethical behavior of certain public servants may nominate an individual or group of individuals for a specific category in the HAP.

The CSC said nomination forms and search guidelines may be downloaded from the HAP website at www.honorawardsprogram.wordpress.com or from the CSC website at www.csc.gov.ph.
