MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Suspected pirates attacked a fishing boat off Sulu on Friday, killing three crew members with two others missing, a military officer said yesterday.
Philippine Military's Western Mindanao Command Major Franco Alano said that the light sea vessel operated by the GMA Fishing Company was strafed by a group of armed men on Friday afternoon in the waters near Siasi town in the troublesome Sulu province.
Three were confirmed dead and two were missing, he said. However, some local media reported that all of them were killed, while only three bodies have been found.
Alano said the area where the incident happened was infested by pirates and the authorities have launched investigation into the incident.
