Creativity, innovation: Key factors in business

MANILA, Philippines - True to its commitment of helping transform the Philippines into an entrepreneurial nation, the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship Inc. – Go Negosyo is launching its Entrepreneurship Creativity and Innovation Summit at 9 a.m. today at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion said that he felt the need to guide the youth and SMEs on the key elements in a successful negosyo, which are creativity and innovation.

“One can have an originally unique idea or it can come from what we see overseas and even around us, but problem is one can’t just copy these ideas. One has to find its own differentiation, and it has to always be a relevant concept that has commercial demand, so that the business model becomes sustainable. It is important to have creativity and continuing innovation and the leader in the organization has to champion it and build an entire organization that promotes innovation,” Concepcion said.

The summit is a one-day activity (free to all students/teachers), centered on reinforcing the entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino people by engaging them to harness creativity and innovation as a way to take the business to a higher growth plane.

Through presentations of success stories and learning from invited speakers and forum panelists, the summit will cover various ways to develop innovative products or services, operations processes and even innovative business models that will help attendees get a better grasp on the needed foundation to bring back growth and profitability in one’s business.

The summit, part of Global Entrepreneurship Week on which Go Negosyo has partnered with the British embassy, is expected to gather over 5,000 participants from the youth sector (both in business and creative courses), out-of-school youth, micro and small and medium entrepreneurs, and aspiring young entrepreneurs.

Concepcion said the summit “is a sure way to rouse excitement for entrepreneurs who want to tweak their businesses and innovate, while developing ideas on how best to market and position their products.”

The program content for this summit is a result of a partnership with the country’s top marketing and innovation expert Josiah Go and his firm Mansmith and Fielders Inc.

Sen. Bam Aquino and UK Ambassador Asif Ahmad will also be inspiring the participants with their special messages, while Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez will deliver the keynote address.
