Fil-Chinese entrepreneurs donate P700,000 to STAR’s typhoon fund drive

MANILA, Philippines - In support of The Philippine STAR’s Operation Damayan fund drive to assist victims of Tropical Storm Maring, officers of the Association of Young Filipino Chinese Entrepreneurs (AYFCE) led by chairman Jeffrey Ng yesterday turned over to STAR Associate Editor Marichu Villanueva a check donation of P500,000 and P200,000 worth of relief goods.

Also yesterday, the GT-Metrobank Foundation represented by Aniceto Sobrepeña and Nick Torres, president and executive director, respectively, turned over a check for P500,000 to STAR Associate Editor and STARweek editor Doreen Yu for Damayan’s relief operations.

Also present  at the Edsa Shangri-la hotel for the turnover were AYFCE chairman emeritus George Siy, honorary chairman and STAR columnist Wilson Lee Flores, EVP Reggie Yu, vice-presidents Marcelo Co, Hubert Chua, Jeremy Sy, and other members. AYFCE typhoon relief project coordinator is vice-president Edison Kwong.

The GT-Metrobank Foundation has been a staunch partner of Operation Damayan through the years, consistently supporting its relief efforts for typhoon and flood victims.

Operation Damayan held its first relief operation yesterday in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, distributing over 1,300 relief packs consisting of rice, canned goods, slippers, sleeping mat and blanket to families affected by severe flooding.
