MANILA, Philippines - Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia should submit their passports to the Philippine embassy so that their work status can be corrected before the deadline set by the Saudi government, Vice President Jejomar Binay said yesterday.
Binay, presidential adviser on OFW concerns, said the Philippine embassy in Saudi Arabia informed him that 10,461 OFWs in Riyadh and Jeddah have yet to surrender their passports for correction as of June 8.
“Our OFWs need to submit their passports immediately so our embassy could update their work status or process their papers for repatriation,†he said.
“They should grab this opportunity if they want to continue working there or come home to the Philippines,†Binay added.
