MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino photographer will headline celebrations for the 115th anniversary of Philippine independence in Vietnam slated on June 16-18.

Landscape photographer Paul Resurreccion will be presenting his exhibit titled "Philippine Landscapes" at the Sheraton Hotel and Ho Chi Minh City Opera House. His photographs will include shots of Baler, Aurora, Capones Islands and Chocolate Hills, among others.

Resurreccion uses subtle color, black and white conversion, composition and perspective and other landscape techniques in creating photographs that combine the varying facets of light, the elements of nature and the contours of Philippine terrain.

“My photographs say so much of the Philippines’ calm and tranquil beauty. Our country is so blessed with natural splendor and I want to translate how I see that splendor through my lens. This way, I can show to the world that behind that rich culture, we also have all these wondrous places surrounding us,” he said.

Resurreccion's photo exhibit is sponsored by the Office of the Consul General of the Philippines in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and the Filipino Community organization, Samahang Pinoy.

Philippine Landscapes will be featured at the Ho Chi Minh City Filipino Community Independence Day Celebration at the Sheraton Saigon Hotel on June 16, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and at the Independence Day Reception of the Consular Corps and the Business Community at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on June 18, 2013 at 6 p.m.
