MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended 10 units of the Luzon Bus Inc. for 30 days following an accident involving one of its buses, where a passenger was killed and several other vehicles damaged.
The LTFRB said that the suspension order will become effective upon surrender of the plates of all the 10 bus units within five days from the service of the suspension order.
A unit of the bus company was involved in the fatal accident last May 14 along Quirino Highway, Barangay Maharlika in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
The Board also ordered the bus firm to bring all its 25 buses to the Motor Vehicle Inspection Service for inspection and determination of their road worthiness before they are again allowed to operate.
The drivers of the units will undergo seminar on road safety by the Board or authorized training centers.
Unless they can assure us of the road worthiness of their buses, their whole fleet will be grounded to prevent another accident from occurring in our roads," he added.
