34 Filipinos in war-torn Syria to be repatriated

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - A group of 34 Filipinos from strife-torn Syria are expected to arrive tomorrow here, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said today.

According to the department, the Philippine Embassy in Damascus reported that the 34 Filipinos safely crossed the Syrian-Lebanese border and they are now under the care of the Philippine Embassy in Beirut.

Upon the group's arrival, the total number of repatriates will reach 4,212, it said.

The DFA said it continues to urge all Filipinos in Syria to seek immediate repatriation as the violence in that country continues to worsen.
