‘UNA barred from posting campaign materials in Taguig’

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) senatorial candidate Mitos Magsaysay bared yesterday local officials in Taguig stopped her from posting her campaign materials in designated areas of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), and that her campaign materials like tarpaulins have been removed.

“They told me that the posting areas are only for the Team PNoy,” she said. “That was one month ago. It was my first time to post my campaign materials.”

Magsaysay said her campaign materials were also removed in Quezon province, Bicol and Nueva Ecija.

“They must observe the fair election law. I hope they will just let my tarpaulin be posted on Comelec common campaign areas. Just be fair to UNA. Tarpaulin will not make you win. It’s who you are that the people will look into.”

She has been religiously following the Comelec rules, Magsaysay said.

UNA senatorial candidate Nancy Binay does not believe that the administration can post a zero score for UNA.

“It’s part of the game,” she said.

“That is why my order is for my campaign materials to be posted within the backyards of each house in Taguig and the other areas in the country, as long as the owner of the houses give their permission,” she said.
