Hontiveros leading violator of anti-epal campaign

MANILA, Philippines - Team PNoy senatorial candidate Risa Hontiveros and two party-list groups are the leading violators of the anti-Epal campaign of the Commission on Elections.

Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said Hontiveros and Ang Kabataan and LPG Marketers Association have been served four notices each for their unlawful campaign materials since the campaign period started last Feb. 12.

“Risa Hontiveros was served another notice for her illegal posters in Cainta, her 4th notice already,” he said.

“She has received the most number of notices so far. Each notice is equivalent to one violation.”

In his Twitter account, Brillantes listed the other violators: Antonio Trillanes IV, Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, Loren Legarda and Francis  Escudero of Team PNoy.

Brillantes said Escudero’s A-Plus paint advertisement has remained on taxi cabs.

Taxi operators carrying “Escudero’s illegal ads will also be summoned and cancellation of franchise is on the way,” he said.

Brillantes said other violators are independent senatorial candidate Eddie Villanueva, and Sen. Gringo Honasan, Tingting Cojuangco and Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

Other violating party-list groups are Sanlakas, Anak Mindanao, Gabriela, Akbayan, Bagong Henerasyon, A-Teacher, An-Waray, ACT-CIS, Binhi, 1 BRO-PGBI, UMALAB-KA, KALINGA, 1-SAGIP, KATRIBU, and ABROAD, he added.
