PHLPost to release snake year stamps

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) will release early next month two stamp designs to mark the coming Year of the Snake.

PHLPost said that for next year’s celebration of the Year of the Snake they have prepared two designs – a stylized version featuring a close-up image or head of a snake, and a full reptile shot.

The stamp with the snake’s head is sold at P10 while the full snake one can be purchased for P30.

The stamps will be available starting Dec. 5 through Dec. 4, 2013, or until supply lasts.

The agency produced 110,000 stamps with each measuring 40 mm x 30 mm.

They have also manufactured 10,000 pieces of souvenir sheets each measuring 140 mm x 80 mm that will be sold for P80.

Diane Hontomin designed the stamp with the snake’s head while Jeanelyn Marquina designed the full body stamp. Victorino Serevo was layout artist.

The snake is sixth in the cycle of animals in the Chinese zodiac. Year 2013 is that of the water snake.

It is believed that those born under this sign are able to handle crisis with ease, do not show their emotions, are not great communicators and can be possessive.
