MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang yesterday bared new appointments in state agencies, the judiciary, a research center and a government-controlled bank.
President Aquino has designated Janet Abuel and Gil Montalbo as assistant secretaries of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Abuel was director IV of the Budget department’s office in Ilocos. She was a bar topnotcher in 1998 and obtained her master’s degree in public policy from the National University of Singapore.
Montalbo, on the other hand, is a career official who served as director IV of the Budget department. He finished his master’s degree in public administration at the University of the Philippines.
Danilo Carranza and Francisco Mabaso Jr. were appointed members of the board of directors of United Coconut Planters Bank-Coconut Industry Investment Fund Oil Mills Group.
Carranza was the coordinator of the Quezon Association for Rural Development and Democratization Services while Mabaso was the general secretary of the Agri-Aqua Development Coalition-Mindanao Council of Leaders.
Aquino also named Nestor Antonio Monroy as acting Director II of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
Prior to his appointment as NTC director, Monroy was head of the agency’s regional Radio Regulations and Monitoring Division.
Liberty Casco, former executive director of the Labor department’s Maritime Training Council, was designated deputy administrator of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
Malacañang also announced the appointment of two Cebu regional trial court judges.
Jerry Dicdican was named judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 25 in Danao City while Anna Marie Militante was designated judge of the RTC branch 53 in Lapu Lapu.
Aquino also appointed Alfredo Tolentino as undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
