MANILA, Philippines - After nine days of fund-raising for the benefit of victims of tropical storm ‘Sendong’, The STAR has accumulated cash and cheque donations totaling P2 million with the help of generous and kindhearted STAR readers and employees, good samaritans and benevolent institutions.
The funds will be used by The STAR’s philanthropic arm, Operation Damayan, to assist in the rehabilitation of hardest-hit barangays in Northern Mindanao that have yet to be reached by ongoing relief efforts.
Donations received yesterday totaling P128,000 came from: Nuvoland Philippines, P55,226; Tradeton Corporation, P25,000; Intra Tire Retreading, P10,000; Susan Tan, P10,000; Anonymous, P10,000; Ryan Dexter Domingo, P5,000; Bimbo Andrade, P3,000; Net To Go Internet Café, P2,000; Cynthia Dematera, P1,800; Perla de Lara, P1,500; Catalino Flores, P1,000; Pedro Felix Jr., P1,000; Felix Andrada, P1,000; Vicky Esanan, P500; Mario Baguio, P500; and Leri Lat, P500.
Cash or cheque donations to Operation Damayan may be deposited to: The Philippine STAR Operation Damayan c/o MBTC Aduana Branch Savings Account No. 151-304-161622-9. Donors are requested to fax their deposit slips to tel. no. 301-9598 (c/o Operation Damayan) and to confirm receipt of their donations and details thereof for acknowledgment.
The STAR’s Operation Damayan ‘Sendong’ fund drive is open to donations from abroad through i-Remit remittance centers in over 700 locations in 26 countries.
