MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is going paperless.
New graduates and other jobseekers will be using digital resumés in applying for job vacancies to be offered during the nationwide job fair on Labor Day, DOLE said yesterday.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said DOLE will distribute Phil-JobNet cards for free to jobseekers who will register for the Job and Livelihood Fair to be held in Luneta, Manila.
“The Phil-JobNet card will serve as a digital resumé containing a jobseeker’s profile. The jobseekers will simply present the card to local firms or overseas recruitment agencies that will participate at the Labor Day Job and Livelihood Fair,” Baldoz said.
She said the participating firms and recruitment agencies will, in turn, copy the digital resume onto their laptops.
According to Baldoz, the new system is expected to hasten the selection of qualified applicants and facilitate the placement and employment of jobseekers.
“With the card, jobseekers can apply for as many jobs as they can at the fair, which would increase their chances of landing a job they want,” Baldoz said.
