MANILA, Philippines - Customs Deputy Commissioner Alexander Arevalo will temporarily head the Bureau of Customs (BOC) while President Aquino is still looking for people to fill the remaining vacant positions in his Cabinet.
Reports had it that Arevalo will be the BOC’s officer-in-charge for the next two weeks.
Arevalo is the head of the bureau’s Management Information System and Technology Group (MISTG).
He was also the Customs officer in charge prior to the appointment of former Customs commissioner Napoleon Morales.
Arevalo was a former classmate of Mr. Aquino’s sister Pinky Aquino-Abellada.
Arevalo, former Customs chief Guillermo Parayno and Federal Express president Lito Alvarez were reportedly being eyed for the post.
However, there were reports that Parayno would likely get the post of Finance Undersecretary Estela Sales.
