MANILA, Philippines - James Yap finally broke his silence yesterday, after evading interviews regarding his separation from his wife, actress-television host Kris Aquino.
In a statement, Yap vowed to do everything to save his marriage.
“It’s final: I will fight for my family to be complete no matter what. I know no family is spared from these kinds of challenges. Kris and I have been through so much and I don’t think we should give up now. I want to make clear that there was no third party involved in the separation and I’m still hoping that the time will come that we can fix this,” Yap said.
“Various reports came out regarding the break up but I chose to keep quiet in respect to President Noynoy Aquino (Kris’ brother). Ever since, you never heard anything from me about my relationship with Kris. I want to save our family especially because we have a son and we’ve been together for almost six years,” he said.
“I’ve been asked why I did not attend the inauguration of President Noynoy. We talked about it, I texted him and he understands why I did not attend. I don’t want to add to his problems especially now that he is the president of our country,” he added.
“Also, I promised Mom Cory (former President Corazon Aquino, mother of Kris) that I will take care of my family, of Kris, Josh and Baby James. Kris and I also promised in front of Mom that we will never separate,” Yap added. “I know it’s hard for my son to witness what’s happening between me and his mom. But I know the time will come that he will understand the situation.”
He told Baby James, “I’m doing this because of my love for you, for our family. I want us to be complete.”
To Kris, James said, “We’ve been through so much bigger problems but we never let go. I love you both especially Josh who I treat as my own son. I repeat, it’s final, I will fight for our family and with God’s help, I know we will get through this.”
Contacted by The STAR about James statements, Kris simply said, “No comment. I’m the new Kris Aquino. I want to keep quiet.”
