'It's a sunny election day'

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) yesterday said the country would experience generally sunny but humid conditions on election day.

Pagasa issued a Special Weather Outlook for the election period from May 9 to 12.

“The ridge of the North Pacific high pressure area would continue to dominate the weather situation in Luzon and would bring generally sunny but humid conditions with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening,” said Pagasa administrator Prisco Nilo.

Scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms associated with the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) would also be experienced in the Visayas and Mindanao from May 9-12, said the bureau’s special weather outlook.

There would likewise be widespread rains over the Eastern sections of these areas on May 10, and light to moderate winds blowing from the East and Southeast would prevail throughout the archipelago and coastal waters would have a height of one to two meters.
