MANILA, Philippines - Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Sen. Benigno Aquino III has expressed confidence in the credibility of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) surveys.
In his letter to SWS president Mahar Mangahas, Aquino clarified that SWS is not among the “incredible surveys” he was referring to in his answer to a question about survey results during a presidential forum held at the De La Salle Zobel School last Jan. 9.
His response was made shortly after the release of an SWS survey showing his lead over Villar narrowing.
Aquino has consistently topped poll surveys conducted by several research institutions, including the SWS.
“For 25 years, the Social Weather Stations has been and still is a competent and respectable social research institution. We remain firm in our belief that the Social Weather Stations and all its officers remain true to their mission to deliver true and competent service to the Filipino public,” Aquino said in his letter posted on the SWS website.
He explained that his comments about survey results were spun by unknown quarters to make it appear that he disparaged the SWS survey results.
