Tropical cyclone threatens RP

MANILA, Philippines - A tropical cyclone is threatening to bring more rains next week to some parts of the country including Metro Manila, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported yesterday.

Pagasa weather forecaster Joel Jesusa said a low-pressure area (LPA) was spotted 440 kilometers east of Southern Visayas. The weather disturbance moved 80 kilometers closer to land in a span of 12 hours beginning at 5 a.m. yesterday.

“The LPA has a big possibility of becoming a tropical depression by Monday and when that happens it would be named ‘Feria,”’ Jesusa said. “When this happens it would be recorded as the sixth tropical cyclone to enter the country,” Jesusa said.  – Evelyn Macairan
