TMG: 578 fatalities in 10,628 accidents

The Traffic Management Group (TMG) said there were 578 deaths from 10,628 traffic accidents in the first nine months of the year.

The TMG data also showed 3,336 injuries and 6,736 cases of damage to property from vehicular accidents.

Most or 6,690 of the accidents during the period took place at daytime while 3,924 happened at night.

The top causes of accidents, based on TMG statistics, are driver’s error, drunk-driving, mechanical defects, over speeding, the use of cellular phone while driving, and road defects or roads under repair.  – Cecille Suerte Felipe
