NBI chief fails to bring home Ang

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) director Reynaldo Wycoco tried, but failed, to bring back to the Philippines fugitive businessman Charlie "Atong" Ang, a friend of deposed President Joseph Estrada.

According to a source inside the NBI, Wycoco allegedly made arrangements for a personal talk with Ang, but only succeeded in talking with Ang’s lawyer, Donald Etra, in Nevada.

During the meeting with Ang’s lawyer, Wycoco reportedly asked Etra to urge his client to "voluntarily surrender" and not contest moves to extradite Ang to the Philippines. Mike Frialde
