The President, clad in the green Girl Scout uniform, was officially sworn in at simple investiture rights at Malacañang where she recited the Girl Scout oath and law.
"As a true Girl Scout, I shall uphold the ideals of the Girl Scout movement as embodied in the promise and law," the President swore. She was later joined by other leaders of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines in reciting the GSP credo.
The President was sworn in by GSP international commissioner Veronica Dalisay-Tirol, national president Cynthia Zagala, national vice president Dr. Amelita Dayrit-Go, second vice president Dr. Martha Mogol and national secretary Judge Filipina Laborte.
The Girl Scout movement in the Philippines was founded on May 26, 1940 by Josefa Llanes Escoda.
The Girl Scout movement in the country subsequently grew from 3,000 in 1940 to more than 1.5 million Girl Scouts in 1990 when the GSP celebrated its golden jubilee. Marichu Villanueva
