Thirty-six more Filipinos - 24 men and 12 women - were reported to be afflicted with the AIDS-causing human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
This brings to 1,325 the total number of Filipinos afflicted with HIV and AIDS since the dreaded disease was first diagnosed in the country in 1984.
Of the total number, 203 have died due to complications, while 441, including 16 of the new cases, now have full-blown AIDS.
Dr. Concepcion Roces, DOH-Field Epidemiology Training Program chief, said sexual intercourse remains to be the primary mode of AIDS transmission in the country.
