He was lucky enough to escape jail last year after he accidentally shot his live-in partner and killed their two-month baby inside her womb.
But yesterday, PO3 Marlito Acosta, 44, of San Agustin st., Barangay Orambo, Pasig City landed in jail when he terrorized his neighbors by firing his gun in the air and threatening to kill one of them.
And worse, acting Pasig City police chief Superintendent Ricardo Padilla is now working for Acosta's dismissal from the service. He is assigned at the Central Police District (CPD) Station 4.
Acosta landed in the news last year when he accidentally shot his live-in partner, who was two months pregnant, at the height of an argument inside their house in Pasig City.
She was hit in the stomach, the bullet also hitting the fetus. Doctors had to operate to save her life.
But the case against Acosta was shelved when his live-in partner decided not to pursue the case. Their neighbors told police, Acosta went to live again with his partner after burying their lost child.
At about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Acosta, who was dead drunk, indiscriminately fired his gun in the air. He even pointed it and opened fire at his tricycle driver neighbor, Abraham Ponzaran, 45.
Luckily, the bullet failed to find its mark and Ponzaran fled.
Acosta, still pointing his gun at Ponzaran, ran after him but failed to catch up with him.
Responding elements of the Pasig City police arrived, then disarmed and arrested Acosta.
Acosta frequently creates trouble in his neighborhood when he gets drunk, Padillla said.
He will be charged with grave threats and attempted homicide before the Pasig City prosecutor's office today.
