MANILA, Philippines — Singer Kiana Valenciano believes that her father, Gary V's two-night "Pure Energy: One More Time" concert is only the beginning of a new chapter in his long-running music career.
In a recent interview with the media, Kiana shared her observations on her dad's long-lasting career in music and entertainment.
"There are so many sides to him that you guys haven't experienced yet. We've been very, you know, to grow up with that side of him and I think it's just the beginning of a new chapter,” she said.
She also praised her dad's energy at 60 years old.
“When you watch the show, you really ask yourself, 'Is it really this fast because he's not going on, you know, he's not tired.' He has so much to give. He’s out there for three and a half hours," she said.
"The only exits he has is usually like the costumes. I'm 32 years old and ever since I was born, I grew up with that, and to be able to support that in whatever way I can, I'm going to do it, and I'm just happy to be there,” she added.
“Pure Energy: One More Time” is happening on December 20 and 22 in Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Kiana's siblings, Paolo and Gab, will also join their dad in his show this weekend.
Gary’s eldest, Paolo, is a concert director. Paolo helmed the shows of Eraserheads, Ben&Ben, Martin Nievera, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, Juan Karlos, December Avenue, Sharon Cuneta, Sam Concepcion, Christian Bautista, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.
Gab, meanwhile, is known for his dancing skills much like his talented father. He also produces music and directs music videos, such as Kiana's latest single "Sweet Release.”
Kiana, the only daughter of Gary and manager Angeli Pangilinan, delves into singing. Apart from singing, she recently collaborated with Gab in the music video for her latest single.
With a career spanning decades, Gary V has become a cornerstone of original Pilipino music (OPM). This year alone, he has managed to add a few more accolades to his belt, including the Legacy Award at People Asia’s Men Who Matter Awards 2024, Icon of the Year by Esquire Philippines, and IPO’s Gawad Yamang Isip Award for Performing Arts.
His duet with Gloc 9 titled “Walang Pumapalakpak” won Collaboration of the Year at the 2024 Awit Awards, and Best Duet of the Year as well as the coveted Pilita Corrales Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th PMPC Star Awards for Music.
