MANILA, Philippines - Last April, local rock music history was made as rock music fans trooped to the Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City for what was clearly the biggest and loudest rock show of the year: PULP Summer Slam 12: The Apostles.
Garnering an attendance of over 20,000 music lovers nationwide, this year’s Slam on its 12th year featured a massive lineup of six international hard rock/heavy metal headliners, including We Came As Romans, Bless The Fall, Periphery, August Burns Red, Darkest Hour and main event, Swedish melodic Death Metal outfit Arch Enemy paired off with local acts Kamikazee, Franco, Chicosci, Urbandub, Sin and Intolerant. Dubbed as The Apostles, the performers put on an impressive display of musical mayhem for a straight 14-plus hours on a massive stage, sound-and-lights design that has been unrivaled in the country.
Lucky concert-goers and members of The PULP Army were not only treated to a piece of Pinoy concert history, but they also got their fill of Colt 45 Beer, Pepsi and treated to slices of Pizza Hut Pizza, Smart Prepaid load, a free copy of PULP Magazine’s April 2012 issue and a P50-discount on the official PULP Summer Slam Shirt made by Tribal Gear.
This month, PULP Magazine gives its readers the chance to look back and relive the priceless moments of The Slam from start to finish, as it presents 88 pages of PULP Summer Slam Madness in its latest issue. Definitely an issue for both serious collectors and Slam Survivors, the PULP staff — from publisher-president Vernon Go, up to the writers to messengers — share their most memorable experiences working on the mammoth of a rock show, while gigantic, exclusive photos of both bands and fans in action can be found in all the pages of the magazine.
