Jake Cuenca in the cast: Bela Padilla to debut on stage via Sandbox play

MANILA, Philippines — Actress Bela Padilla will take her talent on stage for the first time. 

The news was announced by The Sandbox Collective with the official reveal of the powerhouse cast of their latest production “People, Places, and Things,” a critically acclaimed play by British playwright Duncan Macmillan that will be opening in the Philippines this August.

Bela will play Emma, a successful actress whose life is slowly falling apart after confronting her addiction and entering rehabilitation.

She will share the role with theater actress Gabby Padilla. 

The two will also be joined by some of the biggest names in theater and showbiz.

Jake Cuenca returns to the stage as Mark, while the so-called First Lady of Philippine Theater, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, will also star as Doctor, Therapist and Mom.

The so-called "King of Philippine Musical Theater," Audie Gemora, will also be in attendance as Paul and Dad.

Also included in the ensemble are Robbie Guevara as Foster, Reb Atadero as T, Brian Sy as Shaun and Mark (Understudy), Mariella Laurel as Laura, Pamela Imperial as Charlotte, Miel Abong as Jodi, and Salve Villarosa van Schoonhoven as Narrator.

Directed by Sab Jose, the story revolves around Emma as she struggles to come to terms with her past, addiction, and the complex process of recovery.

“People, Places, and Things” is a contemporary play that delves on the themes of addiction, rehabilitation, and healing.

A special staged reading will be held at The Blackbox at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati on August 15 and 16.
