MANILA, Philippines — P-pop frontrunners SB19 and BINI acknowledged each other as they marked yet another milestone in the international music scene after gracing an event by Billboard Korea.
SB19 and BINI both received their respective “Voice of Asia” awards at the “Billboard K Power 100” event, held in line with the launch of Billboard Korea last Aug. 27 in Seoul, South Korea.
Billboard Philippines picked the two leading P-pop groups to receive the award, which “honors their groundbreaking contributions to Filipino music and their unwavering championing of P-pop on the global stage.”
SB19, composed of Pablo, Stell, Sejun, Justin, and Josh, performed their global hit track Gento.
During their acceptance speech, the group stressed how they are honored to receive the recognition, thanking their fans, A’TIN, fellow artists, and team for being an inspiration to further elevate their artistry.
“This award belongs not just to us, but to the entire P-pop movement, OPM, and of course, to every Filipino that shares their creativity and passion across Asia and the world,” said Josh.
“To every Filipino artist, creative, and to the music legends before us, you inspire us so much to grow and to excel without losing heart,” Pablo added.
“As Voices of Asia, we’re proud to stand alongside our fellow Asian artists, showcasing the diversity and richness of our cultures through our music.
Eight-member girl group BINI, consisting of Jhoanna, Mikha, Stacey, Maloi, Sheena, Colet, Gwen and Aiah, meanwhile, performed a medley of their latest single Cherry On Top, and viral hit Pantropiko.
For the octet, gracing the event was an honor and a “dream come” true.
“Being here tonight with so many talented artists inspires us to keep pushing boundaries and share our music with the world. This award reminds us that anything is possible with hard work and dedication,” stated Aiah.
The group, likewise, expressed gratitude to their fans, management, and support system for their love and dedication.
SB19 and BINI, which have been making a name in the global music scene, also gave each other a “shoutout” on their respective acceptance speeches.
“To our fellow artists, we admire and respect each and every one of you. To our fellow P-pop group, SB19, thank you so much for inspiring us,” said BINI’s leader, Jhoanna.
SB19, meanwhile, said: “We’d also like to give a shoutout to our fellow Filipino artists who are here right now: BINI, we are proud of you. We’ve been making waves right now.”
