Finally! What felt like the longest month ever is now over and now, it’s a little over a week before the much celebrated (or dreaded?) Valentine’s Day celebration for Filipinos. Gladly, we got to jump in on our first event related to V-Day and that’s Toblerone as it got the very funny Luis “Lucky” Manzano as Love Guru. I mean, why not him right? Besides his colorful love life, I enjoyed his wisdom as a semi-newly wedded man to Jessy Mendiola. They’re celebrating a year as husband and wife this coming April but Luis’ wisdom in all things love and partnership was one to note.
His maturity showed when he was being asked about which scenarios in a relationship would be a red or green flag for him. Luis even opened up that if Jessy keeps mementos from her past relationships, he is totally fine with it.
“Sa past, I am not going to ask you if you have a shoebox with pictures or yung mga tokens na binibigay niyo sa isa’t-isa,” said he. “I’m never going to go down that path. Para sa akin, whatever happens sa inyo, you get to enjoy it and same thing, if there’s any information that I need to know that will have a bearing sa relationship natin ngayon sa present, then please let me know. But if it’s simple pictures o kung ano man enjoy it, itago ko iyan, gagawa ako ng mas malaking shoebox para sa atin.”
Luis loves how simple Jessy’s requests are from him such as making him cook her steak. He said that for them, gifts don’t need to be expensive.
Speaking of money, we all know Luis and Jessy have their own investments but it seems like they took the old school route when it comes to splitting their assets as man and wife. Luis revealed that he and Jessy do not have a prenuptial agreement and he was very candid in explaining so.
“Wala, wala, wala kaming prenup,” shared he. “Am I mad? No. It is realistic for people to have a prenup pero wala, wala kami.”
Luis has been open in the past that he is ready to be a daddy but just almost a year into his marriage, like with any showbiz couple, Luis and Jessy have been bombarded with comments and unsolicited suggestions and queries on whether they already have been trying.
“There are questions na may nang iintriga talaga,” said he. “There are questions na alam mo na nang-aasar talaga.”
What bothered Luis was how Jessy would be more hounded by it as a woman. “It wasn’t simply asking her if kailan kami mag ba-baby but people were bombarding her,” said he. “Doon siya na i-i-stress na bakit ka nag-work out? Hindi pa ba kayo nag-try mag-baby? Bakit ka nag-papa-abs?”
Reports have also surfaced that Luis’ mother Vilma Santos is asking them for a grandchild and though it is a fact that the Star for All Seasons wants an apo, the host clarified that his mother respects their timeline.
“People might believe that she’s pressuring me pero hindi naman,” shared Luis. “It’s just a loving mother na kahit papaano gusto na rin magka-apo.”
For now, what keeps them busy are their vlogs as Luis recently influenced Vilma to join the celebrity vlogging community.
