My Fair Lady ’65 at Assumption

The inaugural presentation in 1965 of Assumption Convent’s Mother Rose Hall was the musical My Fair Lady, directed by Fr. James Reuter, SJ. Chloe Cruz Romulo played Eliza Doolittle and Nick Lizaso, Prof. Henry Higgins.

Lizaso, the current CCP president, was a noted stage actor during his younger days and later film director.

Choreographer was Inday Gaston Manosa, voice director was Juanita Javier Torres, with the Manila Symphony Orchestra conducted by Edward Mattos (courtesy of the United States Information Service).

On Broadway, Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison originated the roles of Eliza Doolittle and Prof. Henry Higgins. In the movie version, Audrey Hepburn played Eliza Doolittle and Harrison reprised Dr. Henry Higgins. — RKC
