Young JV’s reminders to students

Young JV is the latest addition to the Megasoft Family as its newest brand ambassador. He is set to take part in the hygienic brand’s School is Cool Tour that will begin on May 17.

MANILA, Philippines — “Stay in school and always have fun in school, and most importantly love your parents.”

That came from Young JV when The STAR asked what would he remind the students when he starts visiting schools around the country for Megasoft’s School is Cool Tour in line with the brand’s advocacy on the importance of education. The urban pop artist-composer-actor has been chosen as the newest brand ambassador of Megasoft hygienic baby products that include cologne, talcum powder and wet wipes.

Young JV’s response visibly reflected how his parents were able to raise him well. “I was raised with full of love by my parents. And so the students should also obey, especially ‘yung mga nanay natin,” added JV who is the son of soldier and now ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo “Red” Kapunan and Elsa Kapunan.

Education, he said, is a must to have a secure future and a stable life. A lucrative job, a good social reputation and self-confidence are just some of the few advantages of having good education. That’s why, Young JV is bent on finishing his communication arts course which was interrupted due to hectic showbiz commitments. “I want to go back to school for myself and my parents who really would want me to have a diploma.”

He is also passionate about helping children, especially the sons and daughters of soldiers, pursue their dream of getting good education through his Lahing Bayani Foundation which is now on its eighth year of conducting outreach programs and granting scholarships.

No wonder, Megasoft VP for sales and marketing Aileen Choi-Go said that Young JV is most fitting to be part of the Megasoft family as he shares the same vision of inspiring the youth.

“I was surprised when I learned that his Lahing Bayani Foundation is already on its eighth year and that only means that he really has this aim of sending children to school. That is truly admirable, kaya talagang nag-jibe kami because we really see the importance of education.”

This is the first time for Young JV to endorse a product in spite of being in showbiz for many years now. Some surmised his video scandal that went viral a few years back had put his credibility in question. But Aileen has this to say, “S’yempre lahat naman tayo may kanya-kanyang issues and what we would like to show is the many positive sides of his personality. Foremost of which is his aim to help send children to school through his foundation and not many celebrities share that kind of goal.”

For his part, Young JV said that “scandal” posed a big challenge for him “but past is past and I guess, everybody commits mistakes. I’m thankful to Miss Aileen because they still trust me no matter what. They saw my capabilities as an artist, as a performer. I promise to bring my music to the Megasoft stage and entertain the students in the different schools that we will visit nationwide.”

The tour will start on May 17 with Young JV performing at the Gaisano Grand Antique; June 14, Butuan City for the Naligayan Festival; and July 16, Ororama Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.
