It’s not obvious on Eat, Bulaga! But did you know that Pia Guanio is due to deliver her and husband Steve Mago’s second daughter either end of this month or early next month?
Funfare learned about it at the baby shower over the weekend at the Discovery Suites hosted by the Japanese baby brand Aprica. The couple’s first daughter, Scarlet, is five years old.
At 42, Pia should give hope to women of the same age who are worried about getting pregnant.
“I would say that 40 is the new 30,” Pia was telling the guests. “As they say, age is just a number. I’m still as busy, as fit, as happy and as content as I was in my 20s and 30s.”
A decade ago, according to Pia, she would easily give in to her emotions.
“I was temperamental,” she admitted. “Where I am now, I am happier, more content, more confident and more secure. I feel healthier and even more fit. I don’t limit myself. I want to study more. I am closer to God and thankful that I have a happy marriage, and eager to welcome the addition to our family.”
The new daughter will be named Brooklyn after the place in New York with which Pia and Steve have fallen in love.
Pia told Jenna Sy, drumbeater for Aprica, that she had to be more careful “carrying” Brooklyn.
“Both my pregnancies were problem-free,” clarified Pia, “I was spared of any discomfort. During my first pregnancy, I ran and did cardio exercises until my eighth month. This time, my workout is limited to upper-body strengthening, walking and swimming. We decided to take it easier after I lost the last baby. Besides, I am four years older already.”
The adage “older and wiser” applies to Pia.
“What I love about being at this age is my relationship with God and my family. I figured out that in order to be happy, you must have God at the center of your family. I firmly believe that if it is God’s will, He will smooth out everything and He will cause all things to work together for good.”
Although busy with Bulaga (even after she quit as segment host of the 24 Oras’ Chika Minute segment), Pia continues her involvement in the church.
“And also,” she said, “I want to encourage women not to stop doing what they love doing because of their age. The older they grow, they actually become better versions of themselves.”
Incidentally, Pia will beat by six months her Bulaga co-host Pauleen Luna who will deliver her and husband Vic Sotto’s first baby in November.
