MANILA, Philippines — Fil-French blogger and restaurateur Erwan Heusaff on Monday afternoon released his own version of Miss France Iris Mittenaere’s answer during the question and answer segment of the Miss Universe Top 3.
Like his sister, actress and model Solenn, Erwan said Mittenaere’s interpreter was not able to translate the French beauty queen’s answer well. This was posted in his series of tweets answering some netizens.
Asked if the interpreter got the translation correctly, Erwan replied: “Nope, got it wrong.”
So the French interpreter doesnt speak French..... #missuniverse2017

Due to this, Erwan released a close translation which he said may contain tense and grammar mistakes because the clip he watched was not clear.
Both Solenn and Erwan’s translation said Mittenaere’s answer mentioned her first year in medical school and not casting which was said by the interpreter.
The Miss Universe panel of judges asked Mittenaire and two other candidates, Miss Colombia’s Andrea Tovar and Miss Haiti’s Raquel Pelissier, this question: "Name something over the course of your life that you failed at, and tell us what you learned from that experience."
Mittenaere’s translated answer was: "I failed several times in my life. So I thought I failed the first time that I went on a casting because my name was not in the list. And the very next day, I found I was in a new book. So I think when you fail, you have to be elevated and you have to try again and keep going. If tonight I'm not one of the winners, I will still have the great honor being one of the three finalists. So I think I have failed before but for me this a great first opportunity."
The representative of France was subsequently proclaimed as the 65th Miss Universe.
During the press conference after her coronation, Mittenaere said she thought her answer was well interpreted. She, however, confirmed her answer discussed her first year in Medicine school.
