"Naiiyak ako that I have to leave so soon. Sobrang saya ko dito sa Pilipinas," she said in a post on her personal Instagram account on Sunday.

"But like I said, this is a responsibility and I have duties now. I will continue making all of you proud!" Pia added.

Although she did not specify the details, the 26-year-old beauty queen said in interviews that she has to leave the country a few days after the culmination of her Manila homecoming.

Before leaving the country, Pia attended the wedding of her friend Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto on Saturday.

In a post on the official Miss Universe Instagram account, Pia thanked Filipinos for their support in her Miss Universe journey.

"There is nothing better in the Universe than seeing and hearing your support, Philippines. Thank you to each and every one of you and I will continue to make you proud," Pia said.

The reigning Miss Universe, who is based in New York, has to get back to work immediately after her Philippine trip.

Last week, it was announced that Pia will be a special correspondent for the Super Bowl 50 for US newsmagazine TV program "Inside Edition." - Chuck Smith
