MANILA, Philippines – Iza Calzado does not mind that Maine Mendoza bested her for an acting award.
The ABS-CBN actress on Monday took to social media to congratulate and defend Maine for her Best Supporting Actress award at the recently concluded 41st Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal.

Some netizens questioned the MMFF after the “Eat Bulaga” mainstay bested Iza of “Haunted Mansion,” theater actress Kim Molina of “Walang Forever,” Lotlot de Leon of “Buy Now, Die Later” and Nova Villa of “All You Need is Pag-ibig” for the acting award.
But Iza urged fans to stop the “fan wars” over Maine’s win in the MMFF and said she liked Maine “from the first dubsmash video I saw of hers.”
Just opened my Twitter account to find lots of senseless bashing about the awards. I have not seen a single film, not even haunted mansion.

When a follower asked if she questioned the MMFF awards night results, Iza said: “Nope… Only felt bad abt HTF.”
She is referring to “Honor Thy Father,” the MMFF entry that was disqualified from the Best Picture category of the film fest.
Nope.. Only felt bad abt HTF RT @vonitaryan: @MissIzaCalzado Isa ka din po ba sa mga nag question sa pamunuan ng MMFF dahil sa mga nanalo?

Maine herself addressed the criticism she anticipated she will receive from netizens for her acting award in a tweet on Monday, hours after her win.
The “Kalyeserye” star is currently on vacation in Japan.
