MANILA, Philippines - Martin Nievera celebrated 33 years in a major concert titled Home at the Solaire’s The Theatre with no less than some top musicians in the country. Led by his long-time musical director Louie Ocampo with 42 members of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, his session players were topnotch musical directors like Marvin Querido on keyboards; Jun Jun Regalado, drums; Bobby Taylo, bass guitar; and Ric Mercado, lead guitar.
It was indeed a dream concert having that many great musicians on stage but what made the concert truly special and nostalgic for Martin fans was his repertoire of hits spanning more than three decades like Be My Lady, You Are My Song, Kahit Isang Saglit, Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin, Each Day with You, Please Don’t Throw My Love Away, The Promise and Ikaw Lamang.
The three-hour concert also showcased three of the brightest young singers today. The Voice Philippines finalist Morisette Amon sang a medley of Hanggan, Anong Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa and Hindi Na Bale, plus a duet After All with Martin. KZ Tandingan did Diamonds, Rolling in The Deep and a duet With Or Without You with the balladeer.
Martin’s eldest son Robin sang a touching original Stay Strong, while clips of his parents flashed on screen and did a duet with his dad in You Are To Me.
