MANILA, Philippines - Award-winning writer-director, singer-songwriter, Njel de Mesa (photo) is re-staging his Palanca Award-winning play I Laugh You due to insistent public demand. Featuring a brand-new cast (Nancy Lazarte, Benjie Espina, James Torres, Roi Neri and John Julian Muniz,), the play will be accompanied with a brand-new bonus play titled Malay Mo, True Love (starring Roi Neri, Angelo Estrada, Benj Espina and James Torres).
The comedy twinbill will launch the Njel de Mesa Play Festival which will start September until December of 2015 at the NDM TheaterCompany in Sta. Lucia Grand Mall Theaterzone.
I Laugh You is a romantic comedy period piece where high-brow use of the Filipino language meets low-brow humor. It’s a story about the ups and downs, twists and turns of courtship and relationships. Malay Mo, True Love is a unique play on two male dorm mates having a quandary on what to do about their homosexual suitor. Njel will also be launching two brand-new radio singles of the same titles as the plays he wrote and directed for his theater company.
