What makes a good love story

MANILA, Philippines - Scriptwriter Vanessa Valdez (photo) created another unforgettable love story in Star Cinema’s latest offering The Love Affair.

Valdez also developed and wrote some of Star Cinema’s biggest blockbuster hits such as One More Chance (2007), Miss You Like Crazy (2010), The Mistress (2012), Four Sisters and a Wedding (2013), She’s The One (2013) and Maybe This Time (2014).

With director Nuel Naval at its helm, Valdez conjured a world of love, betrayal, redemption and forgiveness laced with the crispness of contemporary language and relatable, larger-than-life characters in The Love Affair. The narrative is centered on the lives of its central characters Vince, Patricia and Addie who are unified by their common desire to break free from the debilitating emotional pains that has been holding their hearts and lives hostage.

Valdez revealed that the cast of The Love Affair is a dream team, and a historic one as well as this is the very first big screen collaboration of Dawn Zulueta, Richard Gomez and Bea Alonzo.

“It’s an honor to have such great actors as Dawn and Richard to portray and give life to the character that I created,” said Valdez.

Bea, on the other hand, who starred in six successful films, which Valdez wrote, displays yet again her love and dedication to her craft. “She’s a good actress. Bea is an intelligent and deeply feeling performer who is driven by her desire to understand her character’s journey,” said Valdez.

Like all the movies that she wrote, The Love Affair is a certified hit and Valdez explained that the success of any project is anchored on a passionate, collaborative effort of the people involved in the film, “It’s a combination of good content, good direction and great performances. Direk Nuel did a fantastic job in his directorial debut under Star Cinema while Dawn, Richard and Bea delivered first-rate and genuine performances that seamlessly enthralled and captured the hearts of moviegoers.”

The Love Affair is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
