MANILA, Philippines - APT Entertainment brings Paolo Ballesteros and Alden Richards together for the first time in its fifth Black Saturday offering Pag-uwi, which is a tale of two brothers separated by fate. It airs on April 4, 7:30 p.m. on GMA 7.
APT Entertainment began its tradition of offering inspirational Lenten stories via Marcelino in 2000. Since then, it has produced other Holy Week features starring Susan Roces, Lorna Tolentino, Alessandra de Rossi, Dennis Trillo, Lovi Poe, Marian Rivera and Ryzza Mae Dizon.
In Pag-uwi, Alden is Sam Carbonnel, a dutiful and loving son to his mom (played by Chanda Romero). He is “imprisoned” by his desire to give his mother a happy and more comfortable life.
Little did he know that his mother would ask for a tough gift on her birthday: That Sam looks for his elder brother Onyok (Paolo) and ask him to come home.
Though hesitant to reconcile with the brother who abandoned them, Sam sets out to grant his mother's wish. However, he gets the bigggest shock of his life when he gets a call from a hospital saying his Kuya Onyok now refers to himself as “Ate Sophia.”
Three days before their mother’s birthday, Sam can’t begin to think how he, his mother and Ate Sophia will start life anew and bridge the gap between them.
Catch Sam and “Sophia’s” heartwarming homecoming in this beautiful tale of love, acceptance and family. Pag-uwi is written by Michelle Ngu under the direction of Marlon Rivera.
