Five-Star Fashion Show

Kislap-Graphic magazine, in the early ‘60s, came up with a pictorial billed Five-Star Fashion Show, featuring five Sampaguita stars in ternos.

Here they are:

1. Gloria Romero in a Ramon Valera creation, ‘striking chartreuse with gold sequins designed all over. Note near-bouffant effect from the hips and slit in front of knees.’

2. Daisy Romualdez in Madonna design, ‘done in very light green, embedded with pearls all over. Note line of butterfly sleeves, repeated in hemline of skirt.’

3. Paraluman (designer not mentioned) ‘sets off this glamorous gown featuring the empire line with a black bow accenting the high-waist effect. Silver tones of skirt furnish effective contrast to the black velvet of bodice and sleeves.’

4. Susan Roces ‘models this aquamarine terno with spatter beads also aquamarine. Skirt features overlap at center without disturbing the figure-hugging look of the terno.’ (Designer not named.)

5. Marlene Dauden ‘in another Madonna creation. Done in white, the terno takes on a golden sheen from the embroidery and design in gold.’

Kislap-Graphic noted that aside from beauty and acting talent, the five Sampaguita stars are also topraters as fashion models.— RKC
