MANILA, Philippines - More often than not true-to-life stories on films are violent driven. It makes the movie The Firefighters far different from the usual action genre in that part of its advocacy is to show the unnoticed, everyday heroism of firefighters who put their lives on fire as unrelenting working force of the country’s unheralded Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Incidentally, Action Prince Jeric Raval in his major comeback tackles the title role of the aforementioned movie based on the true-to-life story of Chief Supt. Santiago Laguna (Ret.) who through much of his career has loyally served as head of BFP with the full support of the state-of-the art Textfire Fire firefighters/volunteers of Binondo under the command of philanthropist Gerry Chua.
Records show that (Ret.) Chief Supt. Laguna has been bestowed the endearing title Darling of the Press due to his visibility during fire breakouts and pressing issues on fire protection and prevention that needed immediate resolution. The same with rescue operations not only for fire-related disasters but also for victims of natural calamities like floods, typhoons, earthquakes and the like.
The Firefighters is due for release in Oct. 29 nationwide. It is written and directed by Rod Ortega whose cast includes Hanni Miller, Jethro Ramirez and Carina Salvador.
