MANILA, Philippines – It was Heart Evangelista's friends who broke the news about her engagement to senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero on social media on Saturday, August 23.

Escudero proposed to Heart in Sorsogon while on vacation.
Heart's celebrity friends Alessadra de Rossi, Lovi Poe, and Carla Abellana posted photos of the proposal on their Instagram accounts on Saturday.
“Congratulations to my dear friend @iamhearte ?????? I am truly happy and excited for you,” Carla posted on Instagram, with a photo of Escudero kneeling in front of Heart.
Fellow GMA-7 talent Alessandra also posted a picture of what is presumably Heart's engagement ring on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Lovi said: “After months of planning, congratulations @saychiz for pulling off the best surprise for @iamhearte !!! We're so happy that we're here to witness this special occasion! I love you guys!!”
In a separate post, Lovi said: "They finally know the kind of love that is written in novels." “My 1st time to witness a marriage proposal. Everyone had butterflies in their stomachs! Happy to be part of this priceless moment last night. Congratulations @iamhearte and Chiz!” Lovi's boyfriend Rocco Nacino said on Instagram.
“A heart full of love for Heart. :) congrats poks!! Love you!” Solenn Heussaff posted on her Twitter account.
Heart and Escudero admitted their relationship October of 2012.
