Sarah G says yes to 'The Voice Kids' because of Lea Salonga

MANILA, Philippines- Sarah Geronimo  agreed  to be a coach and judge in the “The Voice Kids” because of Lea Salonga.

“Sabi ko lang basta nandyan si Coach Lea, nando’n ako,” she said. “Ang laking inspiration kasi sa akin ni Coach Lea, e. ‘Pag andyan siya sa tabi ko mas inspired ako, mas ganado ako. Siyempre andyan din si Coach Bamboo.”

For this season, Sarah, Bamboo, and Lea will be the judges and coaches sans Apl d Ap, who will be back on the next adults' edition of the competition.

Sarah said that besides coaching the contestants, she is also looking forward to learning more from the other coaches.

“Sobra, sobra kay Coach Lea,” she said about learning from Lea. “Sabi ko nga, habang ginagawa ako ‘tong The Voice nagiging artist na rin ako, e.

“Kasi nakikita ko si Coach Lea paano mag-coach, paano siya makisama sa mga artists niya, sa mga tao. So learning experience talaga sa akin makatrabaho si Coach Lea, of course si Coach Bamboo.”

Meanwhile, Sarah admits that the three coaches are extra careful in giving criticisms to the kid auditionees. Compared to the adults, kids are more sensitive about their  performance.

“‘Yan ang pinakamahirap na part ng trabaho namin,” she said about being a coach. “Kung paano kakausapin ‘yong mga bata na kung bakit kaming tatlo hindi umikot, ‘yong pag-explain sa kanila bakit kami hindi umikot.  Pero ‘yong mga bata smart naman sila, alam nila ‘yong... may mga umiyak, mahirap.”

But nevertheless, she admires these kids' passion for music.

“Honestly different sila sa age nila, pero ‘yong pagiging competitive ng mga bata, e, talagang pantay lang sa matatanda,” she comments. “Of course may mga konting considerations lang dahil bata, especially mga eight years old. Talagang makikita mo ‘yong energy nila at passion nila for music.”

“The Voice Kids” will start on May 24, which will be hosted by Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga.
