MANILA, Philippines - Vic Sotto has more than just a dollop of admiration for famous son-in-law cager Marc Pingris, who married his daughter Danica in 2007. Appearing alongside Marc in the newest San Miguel Pale Pilsen TV commercial, Vic recently spoke about “the best son-in-law any father can have.â€
“He (Marc) loves his wife very much and he attends to the needs of his family. As a father, there’s nothing more you can ask for in a son-in-law,†says Bossing.
Vic adds that he makes it a point to always support Marc in any way he can. Last year, he watched all of Marc’s games in the Fiba Asia qualifiers and was on hand to celebrate as the Philippine team nailed a slot in the Fiba World Cup in August. Vic is also a frequent visitor to the stands whenever his son-in-law plays in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
For Vic, starring in a commercial with Marc is a special treat. Aside from bonding with Marc and teammates Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio and June Mar Fajardo, who also appear in the TVC, the comedian says Marc is a natural in front of the cameras.
The San Miguel Beer TVC is a reboot of Boss, one of the iconic brand’s best-remembered TVCs. It tells the story of four friends who will go to great lengths just to fulfill their boss’ simple request — getting an ice-cold San Miguel Pale Pilsen.
Bossing praised the athletes for putting the Philippines back on the international basketball circuit.
“Nakakabilib ang kanilang discipline at dedication sa goal nila na makapasok sa FIBA World Cup,†he says. “What these guys did was something we Filipinos can be truly proud of.â€
Vic and the four cagers fit into San Miguel Pale Pilsen’s Bilib campaign for 2014.
“Our Bilib campaign seeks to recognize distinction in an otherwise distracting field,†says group product manager Elaine Minoza. “As a brand, Pale Pilsen is incomparable, given its iconic stature in the Philippines. San Miguel Pale Pilsen is a cut above the rest.â€
