Mayday Parade back in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - PULP Live World proudly presents Mayday Parade live in Manila — a night of sugary pop/rock and heartwarming anthems at the SM Skydome, Quezon City tomorrow, March 8. VIP tickets are now sold out; general admission tickets are still available for P2,200 at SM Tickets.

Mayday Parade is on everybody’s radar right now. After skyrocketing to success with the launch of its debut EP Tales Told by Dead Friends in 2006 — an EP that amazingly sold more than 50,000 copies without any label support — the Floridian quintet continues to wow crowds with its frenetic pop-punk sound and refreshingly ironic lyrics. Now signed back to Fearless Records, Mayday Parade seems to have achieved a lyrical evolution of sorts: Moving towards a more mature sound backed by acoustic melodies following the release of the band’s debut studio album A Lesson in Romantics in 2007.

The band cites Taking Back Sunday and Brand New as musical influences. It has come a long way since that EP back in 2006, swooping in during October 2013 with its newest offering, Monsters in the Closet, a studio album that crashed the Billboard 200 party at No. 10 and sold a whopping 30,000 copies in its first week on the charts. And they’re not finished yet: Plug in Monsters in the Closet to your stereo and ready yourself for those killer vocals, wild sound and hilarious lyrics that Mayday Parade fans know and love. Take for example the first verse of angsty post-breakup anthem Ghosts, the lead single off Monsters in the Closet: “Metaphorically, this ghost is you.”
