Ogie on life with Regine: 'We really didn’t plan anything in our lives'

MANILA, Philippines – Ogie Alcasid said he and wife Regine Velasquez are no longer aiming to having another baby following their first born Nate.

“Kami naman, kung dumating e di okay. Kung hindi naman, ayos lang din kasi Regine is already 44, I’m 46. It’s more for her condition,” he told members of the press at the set of TV5’s upcoming comedy daily series “Confessions of a Torpe.”

Of course, if the second baby does come, Ogie and Regine will welcome the blessing with open arms. Rather, Ogie explained he and Regine aren’t the kind of couple who “premeditate” everything in their lives.

“We really didn’t plan anything in our lives. Kami, we just go by what God gives us. And si Nate, we didn’t even expect we’d have a baby,” the Kapatid star said.

Meanwhile, the singer-comedian said Regine slowly recovering from the recent loss of her father, Gerardo “Mang Gerry” Velasquez.

“Hindi ka naman makakarecover ng ganun-ganun lang,” Ogie said of Regine. “But the nice thing about my wife, ang lagi niyang sinasabi, ‘God prepared us for this.’ E, she’s at peace because she knows her father is with God na. But syempre, mamimiss mo talaga yung tao.”

He added, “Sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘We have to mourn, we have to grieve for people that we love that go’.”

What did he do for his wife during her time of grieving? “As her husband, I just hold her hand and embrace her every time she feels bad. Sasabihan ko siya ng words of comfort, na papa is with God.”

“Wala ka namang magagawa rin as a husband except be there for them,” Ogie shared.

“Confessions of a Torpe,” which also stars Gelli de Belen and Alice Dixson, will air on March 3, Monday on TV5.
