MANILA, Philippines - There’s no stopping husband and wife Dingdong Avanzado and Jessa Zaragoza from reaping more successes in their undertakings this year.
Fresh from his nomination as Male Concert Performer of the Year by the PMPC Star Awards for 3.25 — Tatlong Beinte Singko 25th Anniversary Concert, Dingdong with his band the Doorbells opened 2014 with a show last Jan. 28 at Chef & Brewer in Ortigas. They will return to the venue due to popular demand on March 1.
On Feb. 11, Dingdong will perform with Rachel Alejandro for the Platinum cardholders of Resorts World Manila; Feb. 22 and March 29 at the Vue Bar of Bellevue Hotel. He is also set to star in his first teleserye on TV5 via Trenderas with Sheryl Cruz and Tina Paner.
Despite his busy showbiz schedule, Dingdong prioritizes his duties as Vice Governor of Siquijor. As head of tourism development in the province, he has been coordinating with different agencies and has met with Tourism Sec. Mon Jimenez to make Siquijor the next premiere destination in the country by repositioning it as the “healing island in Asia†willing it to become the next wellness and eco-tourism destination in this side of the world.
Dingdong is seeking ways to strengthen ferry services to and from the island. He is currently in talks with telecommunications companies to strengthen cell signals throughout the province.
Jessa, on the other hand, is also busy both as actress and singer. Jessa plays her first offbeat role in the GMA series Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw and is a mainstay of Pepito Manaloto. She is set to hold special shows in Bahrain on March 28 and 29.
Jessa won the Best Female Pop Artist Of the Year at the PMPC Star Awards for Music last October, on top of her nomination as Best Female Recording Artist of the Year. The video for her hit Pag Wala Na Ang Ulan was also nominated in the Music Video of the Year category.
Dingdong and Jessa will headline the Valentine concert An Evening of Love and Songs on Feb. 13 at the Cebu Waterfront Hotel and Casino. Special guests are Marissa Sanchez and Luke Mejares. The couple will serenade the audience with the best love songs. A Nissan Almera will be raffled off during the show.
