Gandang Ricky Reyes goes to Chinatown

MANILA, Philippines - Binondo is known as Chinatown in the Philippines as when you go there you will find business establishments, eateries, buildings and condo units with signages in Chinese characters.

Our chinoy brothers celebrate their New Year today. It is the Year of the Horse and host Ricky Reyes (photo) with the staff and crew of GMA News TV’s Gandang Ricky Reyes Todo Na ’Toh (GRR TNT) visits Binondo and discovers what food should be served on the table during the first eight days of the forthcoming year if you want to be lucky, prosperous and happy.

Ricky will share what color is lucky and the charms that drive away evil spirits we must bedeck homes, offices and stores.

A one-on-one with Jeric Chua, scion of the noted Eng Bee Tin Bakery majesty will be presented. Jeric’s father is Gerry Chua tagged Mr. Ube who first introduced the ube hopia and tikoy.

Wood carver Peter Daza relates how his business flourished when he started doing horses as focal point of his craftsmanship. “My ancestors believed on this animal’s magic and now I’ve realized it is so,” says Peter, who owns a spacious display room and store in his own building.

There will be video testimonials from users of Organique Acai Berry from America. “The fruit brings luck as it is red, healthy and succulent,” says Ricky.
