Laguna wins bid to host 2014 Palarong Pambansa

MANILA, Philippines - Laguna has won the bid to host the 2014 Palarong Pambansa, slated May 4 to 10.

The Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) was signed between Laguna Gov. Jeorge “E.R.” Ejercito Estregan and Sec. Armin Luistro of the Department of Education (DepEd).

“We are set to welcome around 17,000 young athletes, coaches and officials from 17 regions of the Philippines,” said. Gov. ER.

The athletes will compete in 19 sports activities, with over 399 athletic events in seven days.

It’s the first time for the province of Laguna to host the Palaro.

“In Laguna,” added Gov. ER, “sport is a way of life.”

Laguna and its six cities and 24 municipalities are now gearing up for the games. A 30-second ad for the Palaro has been airing in major networks as early as December last year.

According to Gov. ER, the La Laguna Festival: The Festival of Life, the Best Tourism Event of the Philippines 2011, 2012 and 2013 (and now DOT-ATOP Hall of Fame Pearl Awardee) will be incorporated in the province’ historic hosting of the Palaro.

“The 2014 Palarong Pambansa will be the benchmark of future Palarong Pambansa,” promised Gov. ER.
