Angelica, Rayver, Matteo, Joseph win first indie acting awards

MANILA, Philippines - It was a night for “Riddles of My Homecoming” and “Alamat ni China Doll” as they bagged the most number of awards.

“Riddles of My Homecoming,” an entry for the Cinema One Originals Current, won four awards.

The film got awards for Best Music, Bes Production Design, Best Cinematography and Best Director, who is Arnel Mardoquio.

“Saturday Night Chills” came next as they bagged three awards: Best Editing, Best Supporting Actor who is David Chua, and Best Actors namely Rayver Cruz, Matteo Guidicelli and Joseph Marco, who all are first time acting award winners.

The film “Bendor” got two major awards as well, Best Supporting Actress for Anna Lana and Best Actress given to Vivian Velez.

While the film “Bukas na Lang Sapagkat Gabi Na” bagged the Best Picture and Best Screenplay awards and the film “Islands” got the Best in Sound award.

Meanwhile, for the Cinema One Originals Plus, “Alamat ni China Doll” got six awards.

The film won the Best Picture and its lead actress Angelica Panganiban beats Alessandra de Rossi for the Best Actress award. Other awards that “Alamat ni China Doll” got are Best Sound, Best Music, Best Editing, and Best Cinematography.

After them is the film “Kabisera” that took home three major awards: Best Supporting Actress which was given to Bing Pimentel, Best Actor that was given to Joel Torre, and Best Director which is awarded to Alfonso Torre III.

Meanwhile the films “Blue Bustamante,” “Woman of the Ruins,” and “Sitio” got the Best Production Design, Best Supporting Actor (director Peque Gallaga) and Best Screenplay awards, respectively.

Two pillars of the movie industry were also given recognition and tribute that night.

First is director Elwood Perez, and second is the producer Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Films.

Other special awards are : Jury Prize for “Riddles of My Homecoming” and “Sitio,” Audience Choice for “Women of the Ruins,” and the Biogesic Ingat na Damang Dama Sine Serye given to University of the East-Caloocan for their entry “Magic Touch.”
